The Tulip design provides a calming and relaxed environment: The Tulip pattern was another of the very popular designs for ceiling decoration in the small to medium residential and commercial buildings in city and country living, and became especially popular around the Edwardian period of the 1920's when residences were becoming a little larger with bigger rooms and more open house plans.

The tulip panel is based around a 12" square low relief module and was used both on its own and as a central feature design surrounded by a filler strip and or border of some sort and a more elaborate cornice perhaps. It is very effective when used with a ripple filler strip and the large Egg and Dart Cornice for example.

For retail shops and awnings it was often broken into feature panel blocks to provide a better visual impact than when used unbroken over large areas or longer shop front awnings. This design is very suitable for public rooms in commercial or professional premises such as Doctor and Dentist waiting rooms or public areas and restaurants in Clubs, Bars and Hotels or any other situation where it is important to generate a calming and relaxed environment. In modern homes our Tulip pattern makes an ideal decorative feature in bedrooms where it provides a soft and restful decorated ceiling. This theme may be carried from the smaller bedrooms where it is used over the whole ceiling with a small cornice like the Rose or the Egg and Dart to larger bedroom ceilings where it can be used as feature pattern blocks surrounded by fillers and borders and set within in a larger cornice like the Large Egg and Dart for example.
