How can Pressed Metal Panels enhance the design of a room's interiors inexpensively?
Pressed metal designs immediately distinguish and personalise the design by providing a decorated surface instead in place of a plain one. Pressed metal designs on ceilings for example, completely transform the look of a room and this is achieved inexpensively, either by overlaying the panels on furring strips or using the metal to line a new ceiling installation in place of plasterboard. Installing pressed metal can be easily done by a handyman or individually as there is no detailed finishing work required as there is with plasterboard.

How can Pressed Tin Panels enhance the look of a building's exterior without tearing down and rebuilding?
Pressed metal may be glued on walls or fixed with nails or pop rivets onto ceiling furring strips and they are overlapped so as to shed rain, I provide some panels like the fish scale or dragon scale in 0.4mm galvanised iron to provide strength to withstand impact from hailstones for example.

How weather resistant are Pressed Metal Panels? (Do they expand in the summers or contract in the winters?)
Pressed metal is provided with an overlap joint to the neighbouring sheets which leaves them free to move a little with the expansion and contraction due to temperature changes day and night/ summer and winter.

How can I renovate a wall using Pressed Metal Panels?
Wall panels may be glued into position using a skirting board or temporary horizontal batten to support them from slipping while the glue is hardening. Pop rivets may be also used to steady higher panels to fixed ones below while they are drying.

Are Pressed Metal Panels easy to install?
Most designs have a overlapping border at the edge of the patterns which clips over the next door neighbour and allows one easily to line them up during installation.

Can Pressed Metal Panels be used outdoors (on garden walls etc)?
Yes - pressed metal panels are often used outdoors. Often under ceiling overhangs as decorated linings or walls or used as a decoration on foundations or garden walls. We even produce a pressed metal design based on a sandstone block which can duplicate a sandstone block wall in appearance.

How can Pressed Metal Panels help to create a classic look?
Old style constructions usually had decoration placed by tradesmen when building houses, walls and structures. This was a mark of pride and distinction used by the trades people of the day and provided the classical effect. Nowadays with prefabricated structures which are not easily distinguished from their neighbours a recent trend is to personalise the structure by adding an individual design and produce a classic flavour.

Each period was distinguished by certain patterns based on floral or later, geometric designs. Many of the awnings and most popular ceilings have classic design patterns recognisable even today.

How can Pressed Metal Panels help to create a modern designer interior?
Applying decorated ceiling panels to the ceiling of any room can inexpensively distinguish this ceiling (and the building) from all others and make it much more easily recognised.

Which Wunderlite panels are modern design pressed metal panels?
Individual taste is paramount for choosing a pattern for a modern building. And some of the more elaborated floral designs from classic buildings are not so suitable. Just chose something like the Daisy Chain which is pretty and undramatic but does provide a restful and understated design. click here

Which Wunderlite panels are traditional cultural motifs?
Our Waratah Dado design recovered from the Rocks Hotel in downtown Sydney was a genuine Australian influenced panel and was used as a Dado wall design on top of the skirting board of a hall and bar facility. This is one of the few which is not based on classical European designs. click here

How easy are Pressed Metal Panels to clean and maintain?
Most old ceilings we restore have been installed a hundred years or more already and have been painted two or three times over that period. Maintenance is minimal and damage only occurred when a roof was leaking over time. Nowadays that our panels are mainly made from aluminium, even an occasional wetting will not cause rusting.

Pressed Metal Panels vs Wall Paper - Why should I choose Pressed Metal Panels?
Pressed metal is not much more expensive than heavily decorated wallpaper nor is it any more difficult to install.

How heavy are Pressed Metal Panels?
An aluminium panel covering 1.5 square meters weighs only 2.2 Kg.

How can Pressed Metal Cornices help to create a neat finished look?
Very basic cornice designs, like the 'small egg and dart' were used to finish the edges of ceiling designs and serve well. The only difference is that cornices are installed first and the ceiling panels cut to butt against them rather than them being installed last to overlap ceilings which was the pattern for plaster and plasterboard ceilings. click here

How can Pressed Metal Panels help to create a sophisticated Awning?
It is always necessary to cover the supporting structure of an awning structure and a pressed metal panel may be employed for this purpose and add decoration to the awning as well.

How can I use Pressed Metal Panels to cover up holes in the wall?
Yes - pressed meal will cover any holes, rising damp or imperfections in a wall surface.

Can I use pressed metal panels on only one small area instead of a whole wall?
Pressed metal was often used as a decorative back splash in a kitchen area or a feature behind a pool or heater to additionally protect the surface of a wall against heat or water for example.

How do I install Pressed Metal Panels?

  1. Plan the layout of patterns so that full sheets are seen first when one enters the room. Cuts are best left for surfaces which are not looked at until the overall pattern is established.
  2. First install the Cornice if it is to be used.
  3. 3. Place the battens or furring strips so that the joints between patterns may be fixed on battens.
  4. Fix the sheets by drilling and applying pop rivets or by nailing to timber with small flat head nails.
